more beach bags

Made some more bags. Saturday is looming. My first car boot sale.
As a natural pessimist I'm telling myself not to get my hopes up! But I'll be happy with whatever happens. But you know the thing I'm most worried about? I've got to be there by 7am and I'm such a grumpy bum in the mornings and it'll be at the end of a week so I'll be even tireder. I can just see myself sitting there, hair unkempt scowling at everyone who walks by and growling at Catherine! Well, I've been praying about it. I didn't think I'd manage to get Catherine to school on time every day for a week, but God has helped me when I needed it. So we'll see how we

Irish dancing

Well, I braved the real world again today and saw some friends do an Irish dancing performance at the local shopping mall. I made sure my camera went up to my face only briefly so as to be obvious that was NOT taking video and secretly squirrling it off to the opposition... man... irish dancing has become so... um.. petty... but anyhow. The lead dancers dresses were really pretty.. man! to think of some of the outfits I danced in... I can think of some really unbecoming things I wore in my stick insect figure I had back then! It's been so long since I did Irish dancing I feel I look at performances like a civilian now... like I found it quite humourous to see the calm stage faces on stage, then see them c ome off stage and rush around changing shoes as if it was "we are technically off stage now so pretend you can't see us" but NO, we CAN see you ungracefully changing. Yep. Found that kinda funny. Although, I'm in no position to laugh. Wouldn't have done any better myself so better not be too catty. Was cool overall.

hey!

Hey Luarna... more for you...
Joke: What did the chick say when it's mother laid an orange
A: Look what Marma-laid!
Haha!
Spiritual tip:
The christian life is like breathing.
Breath in... read the word, go to church, prayer and learning. Being with God.
Breath out.... serve others, help others, be there for others... tell them what you have learnt from your time with God.
Here are pictures of a bag I made. I had trouble with the zip, so today I am working on a pattern with a separate zip attachment.

Boredom busters
Well, Luarna, I started blogging a bit more for you really, because I knew you must be getting bored and maybe checking the internet a bit more... so here are some old favourites that used to make me chuckle when I was younger. Here's what I remember...
BORDOM BUSTERS:
- throw open a cupboard and scare a cockroach
- try to describe the taste of your mouth
- see how many words you can make from the word "woof"
- unroll a toilet roll and then wind it back again. Time yourself.
well, that's pretty good considering I read those in 1989 from the Grapevine mag. Hope you think of something to do!

bags and scarves

them, which may be overkill for a car boot sale, but this is me sticking my toe in the water, outside of the computer screen. You know. The real world..
Although I will probably start putting some of these things in my Etsy shop as well. May as well! It's been barren for so long...
I just want to add... it's been so much FUN making stuff to sell. And I'm learning not to tally up the money coz it seems to be the best way to stifle creativity.
Oh yeah... and those are scarves I am blocking in my workshop hee hee. (On nice clean plastic off cuts I must add).

Well, here's what I did...

Three days of solid sewing while Catherine was away. I finished the quilt for her bed that I have been planning since she was in my tummy... new curtains and a matching duvet cover, and the last minute project that has brought me the most satisfaction is 7 cushions filled with material scraps I have been saving, and then covered with material that's been in the rag-bag since I was 5. They will be for the bach. Speaking of which, I will finally be replacing the Fraggle Rock curtains that have addorned our bach since I chose them as an eight year old.

embroidery
the hols

These are some pictures of our recent holiday at the bach. I'm particularly proud of the one of the fence. There's also a picture of my van trying its best to look wimsical but not quite succeeding, and there's Catherine's first ever easter egg hunt where I said Nana could join in and I don't know who had the most fun...
Speaking of which, I am about to have fun. It's school holidays and Catherine is off with Teresa again for a few days and I am planning to sew up a storm, so I'm just warming up the keyboard tonight. I hope to be adding more shortly!
