Drawing of Granny

Here's another charcoal drawing I have done for a friend. It's her Grandmother back in America, and shes getting on a bit apparently, so they would really like a picture of her. And here it is :)

Super heroes!

A friend of mine asked me to paint her some super heroes for her 4 year old son. I agreed although I was worried it was going to take a looong time. I managed to finish it over 3 days. Up close theyre not amazing, but stand back a bit they look quite effective.

Yes... you!

Oog dreams of being famous, and to follow in the footsteps of his great-great-grandfather, Ug, inventor of fire.

He wants to invent something fun, or... something that will change the world!

Princess Catherine

Well, two cool things happened today. Number one: my book arrived! I mentioned it earlier that I'd been saving to get it published. I got a hundred copies printed and I'll be giving out copies as a gift this christmas! Not all of them though. I consider this a lifetime supply.
I wrote this book as a fifth form assignment, and a couple years ago I found it and thought I'd illustrate it properly and have finally saved the money to get it printed.

Number two, I had a phone call from a little girl from Manurewa Central primary school inviting me to see their cross country and have Catherine be presented with a book! You see, Catherine's God mother is a primary school teacher (ages 5-10), and Catherine wrote Teresa a book and said she could read it to her class... which she actually did! and THEN she got the whole class to write Catherine a book, and they are all excited about meeting her and presenting this book they have made her. So hopefully it all goes well. I'll have to dress her nicely, because they've been calling her "princess" Catherine! (due to the story she wrote). Fingers crossed :)

hey.

Hello blog-land. I havnt really anything to blog about lately. I've lost my camera somewhere too.

I have had some woe-is-me days, but refrained from jumping onto my blog and once again telling everyone how dumb my life seems.

I'm also knitting socks and I've been really hanging out to finish them and blog about them. Boy, what an exciting existence huh? I've also been thinking about life (as usual, I'm way too contemplative ).. and my news years resolution, which was to enjoy this year, because I blinked and 2010 disapeared. Also, for a couple of years I only took photos for my blog, which was way unhealthy, so I've been trying to make friends, but I have this thing, (it's like a residue from my mental illness days) where I just get the feeling people hate me, or just don't like me very much. Even with my closest friends I can leave feeling like I've p***ed them off somehow. I went to a dinner party, and it went well... I didn't talk much, but I still left feeling like "well they think I'm a bit of a dork".. and then my friend tells me the next day they enjoyed having me there and would like to hang out again and have a crafty-get -together. Hard to get my head around the fact that what goes on in my head is different from what's actually happening around me.

Sorry if I seemed a bit callous in my last post. But honestly, I think if I took the burden of worrying about Catherine onto myself I'd disentigrate into a puddle of muck on the ground. It's too much for me. I don't know how other parents handle it. Stoopid world. Anyhow... I decided to upload some old photos onto Facebook... so why not here as well. Here are my dancing exploits as a youth. I won't point myself out... but I'll just say things have changed alot in the world of Irish Dancing over the last 30 years. The photo of the hair rollers is in a Christchurch hotel in the 90s. Every competition and performance we would sleep all night in them. And I have fond memories of a whole hoard of us kids having dinner in a restaurant... all in hair rollers! The memorial is also in Christchurch. I don't know how that particular monument fared under the earthquake... be nice to think it was ok, but who knows...
