Area 51, black sign

Hey, finished this off today. Looks good. Just wondering what we should do about graffitti guarding it...

cowl neck top, and alien signs!

Well, I had a pretty stink week, feeling pretty bad about myself, so I'm posting pictures of my latest creations to make myself feel better. If you ever wonder why I continually brag about my projects, it's not because I'm
conceited, it's because I have way low self esteme, and I need to make myself feel better... coz I'm failing in everyother area of my life AAARGHHH!
Anyway. The alien is for our church youth area. I designed the logo and made the signage today. (Our address is 51 Diorella drive, so they called it Area 51 - with Ephesians 2.19 being their key verse) I'll have to double check that reference. I'm putting it up tomorrow morning.
And the top, well, it's a top I totally drafted from scratch. I'm doing an on-line pattern making course and am going to make myself sooo many clothes... I'm redoing the base pattern for my bodice tonight, because although it made a decent enough top, I want to make a fitted jacket, and my pattern just wont do in the state its in. Keep ya posted!~

My new website

Ok. It's not enough for me to have a blog... I have to have my own website as well! It only took 4 days. I admit I used a template, but that's what I did with my business one, and it took FOREVER. I think I'm getting better at it!
Here's the link www.janetsgems.com
It's just bare bones at the moment. I hope to clean it up and hopefully add a few tutorials. (How-to's add traffic).
I'm very pleased with myself anyway. Good for the old self-esteme.

MAD!~

Well, this weeks sermon was on anger. Basically the verse in Matthew that says :

"But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca, ' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell."

Well... I have MAJOR anger issues. I have two thoughts tho. One: I have started to underline all the times Jesus got angry and just went ahead and s poke His mind, saying things like "Do you still not understand?" and " Are you still so dull?" (not to mention the obvious one where he makes a rope and whips everybody out of the temple).
And two: I remember a while ago being really discouraged by my lack of self controll and my tendency to "loose it" and I sat there, pondering, as I do, and I realised that Moses had an anger problem too and it took him 80 years of preparation before He was ready to lead the Israelites and even then, at the end of his life, he lost his temper, disobeyed God by striking the rock a second time and wasn't allowed into the promised land. BUT. Who was it on the mountain during the transfiguration ministering to Jesus? Elija and... MOSES. And I know God backed me up on that one, coz that night my bible reading was up to, you guessed it, the Transfiguration!

One thing my pastor said that might give me a reason to try a bit harder was that our ability to control our anger is part of our witness. I know the neighbours can hear me yelling at Catherine. What to do... what to do?

Oil painting

Hello! Here's an oil painting I have recently finished. I am trying to sell it on Trade Me with a $26 reserve! because the girl at the art supplies shop told me that Das canvases were rubbish and would warp over time, so I'm selling it with the title "Does anyone want it?" haha.
I don't actually like it that much to be honest, but it's a start. I bought a good quality canvas today and I'm going to recreate the dancer I drew (below) as an oil painting.

The Lord's leading...?

How do you know when God is leading you to do something? I've had two people say I should sell my art. Last Sunday a girl came to our church and saw the art on the walls and told me I should try putting them in a gallery...
It's funny. They look at the art, and theyre like, "o yea"... then they find out I did it and go "WOW!". Which is hillarious.. like... YOU... did THAT? Says more about me than the art I think. Haha.
Anyway. Well. That's all I wanted to say really. Just musing. And should I put a link to my blog on Etsy?? I'll have to be a bit less of a fruitloop if I do that...
